Belgian WTCR driver Frédéric Vervisch won the second race of the 65th Macau Grand Prix, last Saturday. It was his first victory of the season. But he had a difficult weekend.

In the first turn, he was already second and continued to push away after, “I was concentrated on the last turn of the circuit to have a good exit and I overtook him. After, it was only controlling the race. I’m very happy,” Frédéric Vervisch reported.
But the weekend didn’t start well for Vervisch. Finishing 18th and 16th of the two free practices Thursday, he was nevertheless happy to be there, “It was a wish to be there and I had my first kilometres this morning. It’s very special, we are not where we should be in the result, but I had a good first impression,” he explained after free practices.
The qualifications were better for the driver of Audi Sport Team Cometoyou with the 8th position. Thanks to the inverse grid, he started third for the second race on Sunday. On Saturday, Vervisch was pushed by another driver in the first lap of the first race, but he still ended 12th.
Frédéric directly focused on the next race that he won. The last race was more difficult because he was pushed off the road and he finished 18th.
His teammate Denis Dupont also discovered Macau, “It’s a very strong and specific circuit,” confessed Denis. The Belgian driver had hard free practices where he finished 22nd and 23rd.
The qualifications didn’t change a lot for him because he stayed at the 22nd position. According to Denis, the goal in Macau was “to earn experience and have kilometres." He finished 22nd in the first race and two times 15th during the two last races.
In GT World Cup, the Belgian brothers Vanthoor had two different weekends. During the qualification race, Laurens tried to overtake two cars in a long straight line, but he was pushed due to a discrepancy against the barrier at 260km/h. He posted on Twitter, “No beef between us. We are professionals and go all races to win. It’s a shame it happened but that’s sports.”
Laurens stayed positive even if the car couldn’t be fixed for the main race the day after. Dries finished 8th. In the main race, the 20 years old driver stayed 8th.
